Glendale Guest House Access Statement

Introduction
At Glendale we aim to provide comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation and to cater for all the needs of our guests. We will always do our best to satisfy the expectations of all our visitors.
Please let us know if you have any particular requirements that we can help with.
It should be noted that Glendale was originally a Victorian Town House built on three floors and the building retains many of its original features which are not always as found in more modern houses.

The following information is provided to help in deciding if Glendale is suitable for your needs.

Pre-Arrival

  • Keswick’s main Bus Terminus is approx 15 minutes, mostly level, walk from Glendale. A Taxi service is available.
  • Penrith is the closest Rail Station, which is approx 17 miles away. Regular Bus services are available.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • We ask all guests to contact us to advise your anticipated arrival time so that we can be here to greet you.
  • There are no parking restrictions on Eskin Street and other roads around the Guest House but please note that during busy periods it may not be possible to park immediately outside the property.
  • We are always happy to assist guests with luggage.
  • Keswick Town Centre is approximately a five-minute walk. Mostly level but with a slight gradient.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Our Front door Guest Entrance is on to Eskin Street.
  • One step of approx 150mm to the front porch.
  • The front door is usually locked and a doorbell is available.
  • The front door is approx 850mm in width.
  • Our reception area (W1450mm x L3500mm) leads to the main staircase. The dining room is to the right as you enter.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

  • All our bedrooms are located on the first and second floor
  • All the floor areas on stairs, halls and bedrooms are carpeted.
  • We do not have a Guest Lounge but all rooms have chairs and colour TV.
  • The dining room is located on the ground floor and accessed from the hallway.

Public Areas – WC

  • All our bedrooms are en-suite or have private bathroom.
  • One separate WC is located on the first floor.

Dining Room

  • Breakfast is served in the Dining Room on the ground floor.
    Furniture is flexible but normally we seat in twos or fours
    Menus are on all tables but we are happy to explain the options available
  • We do our best to cater for all tastes and needs but please let us know if you have any particular requirements.
  • We normally play background music in the dining room.

Restaurants

  • We are happy to advise on local restaurants to suit all tastes and requirements; we encourage guests to leave feedback on their dining experiences for the benefit of other visitors. We will always make bookings for guests if required.

Laundry

  • We cannot offer laundry facilities but we are happy to help with drying wet clothing and to provide an iron if required.

Leisure Facilities

  • We do not have our own facilities but we are happy to advise on facilities available in the area.

Bedrooms

  • We have a total of five bedrooms, three on the first floor and two on the second floor. All rooms have central heating radiators with temperature control.
  • All rooms are carpeted
  • Complimentary Tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

First Floor Bedrooms

  • There are thirteen stairs to a landing with corridor leading to room one. A further four stairs lead to the main landing with access to room two and three.
  • The stairs are 170mm high, 250mm deep and 880mm wide there is a banister to the right hand side.
  • Door widths are 720mm
  • Televisions with remote control are provided.

Room One

  • One super king-double or twin single beds. Can be used as either double or twin.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • Furniture can be moved on request.
  • Beds are approximately 600mm in height.
  • Two chairs with arms provided.
  • The private bathroom is next door and has shower over the bath.

Room Two

  • One King-size double bed.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • Furniture can be moved on request.
  • The bed is approximately 600mm in height.
  • Two chairs with arms are provided.
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen

Room Three

  • One double bed.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • Furniture can be moved on request.
  • The bed is approximately 600mm in height.
  • Two chairs without arms are provided.
  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen

Second Floor Bedrooms

  • There is a flight of eleven stairs to a small half landing then a further five stairs lead to the second floor landing with access to room five and six.
  • The stairs are 170mm high, 250mm deep and 880mm wide there is a banister to the right hand side.
  • Door widths are 720mm
  • Television with remote control and teletext is provided.

Room Five

  • One double bed.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • Furniture can be moved on request.
  • The bed is approximately 600mm in height.

  • One King-size double bed.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.

  • The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with screen

Additional Information

  • Mobile phone service is generally available throughout the house but this does vary by different networks.
  • We operate a no smoking policy throughout all parts of the house.
  • A fire alarm is fitted with call points, smoke and heat detectors. A bell sounds if evacuation is needed.
  • We have a limited amount of space in our main fridge for medications and other special needs on request. (Not available 24 hours)
